Great last minute gifts to get your family or significant other

Daniel Quiroz, Reporter

The holidays are coming soon and if you haven’t gotten anything yet time is against you. You might be a last minute buyer like a lot of other people but, this time is harder as Covid-19 has shut down business and if you order gifts online, you do run the risk of not getting it on time without spending more money on shipping. Luckily for you, I have created a list of gifts you can get just in time for the holidays for your family.

  1.  Gift cards. One of the easiest and safest gifts are always gift cards; you can buy them from any store they like or often go to. If you have a girlfriend who loves drinking coffee, you can get her a Starbucks or Dunkin gift card. For Dads, a Homedepot or Lowe’s gift card ought to do the trick. It’s like their version of Toy R Us. Gift cards avoid the situation of whether they are going to enjoy the gift you got them or not because they get to go buy and choose what they want.
  2. Self care products. This gift is more for the ladies in our lives but, if you have a significant other you are most likely going to be a part of it. Face masks are a great option as well as lotion from Bath and Body. You and your significant other can have a Christmas Spa day. Not only is this gift not too expensive, it will allow you to have quality time with each other.
  3. Family Picture Puzzles. This gift is more for the arts and craft people. You can make it yourself using photos and cardboard but, if you are like me and don’t have the skill nor the patience you can always order it online and get it made. Getting it online you do run the risk of not getting it on time, but websites like Shutterfly.com or Customsocksgift.com and others deliver within 2 business days.
  4. Socks. As a kid whenever I got socks I would hate them because it’s not something I asked for but now that I’m older, I look back and wish I appreciated the socks and saved them. Today I feel like I don’t have enough socks, and they keep ripping and getting lost.  Not only is this gift good for guys you can get fuzzy socks or cartoon socks for the ladies as well. Cosider insulated thick socks for people who work outside in construction.
  5. Candles. People like candles. They can help set the mood or just be there to help the bathroom smell better. They come in different scents and are easy and reliable to get.
  6. Jewelry. This is more on the expensive side depending on what you get. Jewelry is always a go to, whether it is earrings, necklaces, bracelets or watches. Luckily for you, if your family has a Sams Club or Costco membership, they sell good brands there as well, if you are not willing to go into a jewelry store.
  7. Blankets. This is one of the simplest but comfortable gifts. They keep you warm and there’s plenty of them, in different sizes and even different fabric. Not to mention there are even heated blankets. Blankets allow you to have family time, all snuggled up watching Christmas movies.
