Cindy Nuti, a teacher’s aide for Life Skills students, retired at the semester after 25 years at Glenbard East.
Since 2000, Ms. Nuti has taught Special Education students at East and was a one-on-one aide for Life Skills students. Before coming to East, she worked as an Early Childhood special education teacher for three years. Nuti also worked as a director and preschool teacher for 4 year olds. She is also involved in Best Buddies and in Special Olympics basketball. At Glenbard North, her alma mater, she works as a statistician for Varsity Football.
Nuti described that her favorite memory of working at East was going downstate for the school’s Special Olympics basketball championship, in which every player won a medal in addition to our school winning the state championship. Every member of the basketball team had also made a basket during the state championship.
In high school, Nuti said that Ms. Barnish, her childhood development teacher, inspired her to go into teaching. She also said that she likes working with kids in special education, which inspired her to get involved in organizations such as Best Buddies and Special Olympics basketball.
“I plan to work on scrapbooks that are unfinished at the moment, take a trip to visit my cousin and her husband in Maine, and hopefully do some subbing and get a part-time job,” says Nuti. She also plans to continue working as the statistician for Glenbard North’s varsity football team and plans on supporting the sports teams she has worked with during her career.
